No es que sea yo muy amigo de listas, pero lo cierto es que aquí hay mucha, mucha buena música, y la mayoría disponible para su escucha directa a través de Spotify.

He recopilado los 500 títulos en una hoja de cálculo, y comparto con vosotros en 10 bloques de 50 álbumes, que iré actualizando con los enlaces de Spotify poco a poco.

En el año 2012, la revista Rolling Stone publicó una lista de los 500 mejores álbumes de la historia, basándose en el resultado de dos encuestas, una realizada en 2003 y en la que pidieron a 271 artistas, productores, ejecutivos de la industria de la música y periodistas que escogieran los que para ellos eran los mejores álbumes de la historia. La segunda encuesta se llevó a cabo en 2009 y pidieron a un grupo de "expertos" similar que escogieran los mejores álbumes de la década de los 2000.

Me encanta como la rolling stone mete recopilatorios y greatest hits
La lista es un ñordo terrible, como lleva siendo la revista desde hace 20-25 años, pero para un aficionado random que no suele escuchar mucha música es una lista que le puede permitir tener algunos buenos discos.

Soy bastante generoso, en otros tiempos hubiera soltado de todo .

Efectivamente, la inclusión de Greatest Hits en esa lista dice bastante de la misma.

Pero si os la he traído, es porque creo que con independencia de que esa sea la lista o no de los mejores 500 álbumes de la historia, en ella hay mucha buena música que merece ser escuchada.

Y sí, para un aficionado a la música con ganas de descubrir nuevas grabaciones de hace unos cuantos años, es una guía bastante interesante para encontrar algunos trabajos magníficos.

Yo últimamente estoy muy centrado en el Jazz, pero no dejo de escuchar pop y rock, y en esa lista encuentro unos cuantos trabajos a los que recurro habitualmente porque me encantan.

Es cierto que meter un Greatest Hits dentro de una lista de los mejores discos no es lo suyo, peeeeroooo, ¿cuánto han hecho algunos recopilatorios por sus artistas? En los 80-90, no recuerdo, salió uno de los Beach Boys que nos descubrió a muchos imberbes a esos genios

Ahí entra lo que dice DeBilbao. Que la lista como tal no valdrá de mucho, pero lo que puede descubrir de artistas que no conoces es lo que tiene valor

Otra cosa son los 3 o ni se sabe recopilatorios dobles de Queen, por ejemplo

es que a ver cómo comenta uno 500 discos de una tacada cuando sólo leerlos y asimilarlo (repasar mentalmente cada disco) ya lleva un buen rato.

venga, empiezo yo asi ojeando los 100 primeros, ¿qué hace un genio como Otis Redding en el puesto 70 y tantos? bueno, supongo que en su época el concepto de disco era algo más "difuso" en términos conceptuales.

los Love, un grupazo sepultado por un disco, Forever Changes, que es una joya pero oculta otras de su repertorio, una carrera variadísima y polífacética.

curiosamente hoy temprano escuché el It Takes a Million... de los Public Enemy, qué maravilla.

yo creo que Smile supera a Pet Sounds, pero claro, es un disco tan problemático de inlcuir, inédito por décadas.

echo en falta por poner uno, Casa Babylon de Mano Negra, una auténtica explosión en su día, pero muy propio de esta revista pasarla por alto.

me aburren las listas tan largas en las que se empiezan a meter varios discos del mismo artista, ¿no es más sensato acortar las listas?

veo que no están ni en los primeros 500 Wave o Tide, de Jobim, pocos discos se acercan a la perfección como esos dos.

Fillmore, ¿ha habido alguna otra sala que hay ofrecido directos tan memorables? cuanto le debe la música a Bill Graham.

yo aprovecho para agradecer a DeBil su inmensa labor en otros hilos, no soy muy jazzero pero sus comentarios son siempre un lujo y el buen gusto es inmejorable.

Gracias sikander, yo también sigo tus recomendaciones, y aunque últimamente esté mucho más centrado en el Jazz, coincidimos bastante en gustos musicales.


Ya tenéis la lista completa con los enlaces a Spotify que he encontrado disponibles para 456 de los 500 títulos. La ausencia más destacada es la de los Beatles, con 11 álbumes, a los que hay que sumar 2 más de John Lennon y 1 de George Harrison que harían un total de 14 títulos de los miembros de la banda de Liverpool.

AC/DC con 2 títulos, Deff Leppard con otros dos, algunos álbumes sueltos y un buen puñado de recopilatorios completan la lista de álbumes no localizados, pero creo que se puede afirmar que en Spotify tenemos prácticamente de todo, y si contamos con la suscripción Premium, además con una calidad estupenda para reproducción en streaming o para descarga.

Si encontráis algún álbum que no he localizado o algún error, comentadlo por aquí y lo corrijo.

He visto muchos discos maravillosos en esa lista que forman parte de mi discografía particular, pero también otros muchos que no he escuchado nunca, y aunque no existe la lista perfecta y esta tiene su tendencia editorial, no es menos cierto que aquí hay infinidad de buena música para disfrutar.

Os invito a que compartáis en este hilo aquellos álbumes que más os gusten. De esa forma podremos realizar un filtro sobre una lista quizá demasiado extensa.

Ahora mismo estoy escuchando el Bryter Layter de Nick Drake, que lo tengo desgastado en todo tipo de formatos de tanto escucharlo. Me encanta.

Pero jamás lo pondrías por encima de cualquier disco de king crimson, Y LO SABES .

No hay ni un sólo disco de ellos o de genesis pero si de No doubt o Janet Jackson. Es como ver una peli de brett rattner o de michael bay en una lista de 500 grandes películas y que no esten ni Cronenberg o Cimino, that's rolling stone baby, hay culos de sobra pero no todos están limpios.

O encabezarla con el Sgt. Pepper's, que puede ser el álbum más mítico (que es el primero suyo que me compré, ¿eh?, y de hecho comprarme, no me he comprado nunca otro), pero el mejor... Ponerlo el primero es tan topicazo como decir que no es su mejor álbum.
