San Francisco and Berlin, September 2, 2025 – Dolby Laboratories, a leader in immersive entertainment experiences, today announced Dolby Vision 2, a groundbreaking evolution of its industry-leading picture quality innovation. Hisense is the first TV brand to announce it will bring Dolby Vision 2 to its lineup of premium televisions, such as RGB-MiniLED TVs. This is complemented by the leading French media and entertainment company CANAL+, which has also announced its commitment to support Dolby Vision 2.

For over a decade, Dolby Vision has pushed picture quality forward as the gold standard for premium HDR. Dolby Vision 2 builds on this success and is designed specifically to meet the evolving opportunities of television experiences today, serving as one piece of Dolby's broader mission to advance picture quality across all entertainment and devices, from the biggest to smallest screens.

Next-Gen Dolby Image Engine

Dolby Vision 2 is powered by a redesigned and even more powerful image engine. This new engine when combined with Dolby Vision’s extensive content ecosystem unlocks even more out of your TV. This is fueled by a robust content pipeline spanning today’s most popular movies and TV shows, weekly live sports broadcasts, and an expanding library of games, all in Dolby Vision. And with new tools coming to the creative community, content in Dolby Vision will look even more astonishing when enjoyed on a Dolby Vision 2 display.


Content Intelligence

Content Intelligence introduces new tools to better bridge the creative suite to the viewer’s living room. This foundation allows Dolby Vision 2 to authentically and automatically optimize your TV to deliver a more captivating picture based on what you’re watching and where you are watching. And with AI capabilities, Dolby Vision 2 will intelligently adapt to give the best presentation of the content fine-tuned for your device and viewing environment.

Content Intelligence includes:
  • Precision Black reduces consumer frustration that the image is “too dark” by making it crystal clear and improving clarity in any viewing environment without compromising artistic intent.
  • Light Sense fine-tunes picture quality through advanced ambient light detection and new reference lighting data from the content source to optimize your TV for the ideal viewing experience.
  • Sports and Gaming Optimization introduce new enhancements such as white point adjustments and motion control designed specifically to address the unique needs of live sports and gaming.

Building on Content Intelligence, Dolby Vision 2 introduces new tone-mapping that takes advantage of modern TV improvements. Today's TVs are brighter and more colorful than ever. With bi-directional tone mapping, creators now have new controls that let them make the most of these enhanced displays. This allows high-performance TVs to deliver higher brightness, sharper contrast, and deeply saturated colors while preserving the artist’s creative vision.


Going Beyond HDR

Dolby Vision 2 expands the capabilities of Dolby Vision beyond HDR. This includes features like Authentic Motion, the world’s first creative driven motion control tool to make scenes feel more authentically cinematic without unwanted judder on a shot-by-shot basis.

Dolby Vision 2 will be available in two product tiers from TV manufacturers.
  • Dolby Vision 2 Max delivers the best picture on the highest performing TVs, adding additional premium features designed to utilize the full capabilities of these displays.
  • Dolby Vision 2 brings dramatically improved picture quality to mainstream TVs, delivering the core next-generation capabilities made possible through the new Dolby Image Engine and Content Intelligence.

Industry Adoption:

Hisense will be the first TV brand to introduce Dolby Vision 2 to its lineup. These TVs will be powered by MediaTek Pentonic 800 with “MiraVision™ Pro” PQ Engine, the first silicon chip to integrate Dolby Vision 2. Timing and availability will be announced at a later date.

Tanta IA me chirrIA...

Y ya lo del sensor de luz de los cojones me mata. Jamás lo he usado, jamás lo usaré y jamás recomendaré usarlo. Menudo ENGENDRO que lo único que hace es variar constantemente la luminosidad de la imagen.

Bien el tema de mejorar la imagen en general e ir más allá, mal lo de meter "mejoradores" y mierdas que personalmente nadie les pidió pero estamos con la moda de la IA y aunque en realidad de IA no haya nada en algunos procesos, "vamo a ponerle "IA" que vende mucho ya verás".

Authentic motion mis cojones...estos han copiado la técnica de TrueCut motion para procesarla en tiempo real. Veremos como sale el asunto. Sí, es cierto que aquí los OLED son los mejores beneficiados porque el stacatto a veces es un poco tocapelotas, pero hasta no verlo en acción...

Eso sí, Hisense comiéndole la tostada a los demás marcándose un tanto, y seguro que para 2026 más fabricantes se apuntarán, vamos, como si lo viese...raro que LG no esté ya implementándolo en los modelos de 2026 que están en producción.

Solo pueden hablar de lo que Dolby les enseñe allí, ya que es una tecnología que aún no está disponible. Si son demos sin entrar en detalles ni comparaciones con DV1 ó HDR10 pues es lo que hay.

Aún así son unas primeras impresiones habiendo visto DV2 en vivo en una Hisense MiniLED RGB de 110 pulgadas, lo cual tiene cierto interés aunque solo sea para decir que se ve bien.

Esto es lo que dicen (pongo la traducción en inglés, que seguramente será algo mejor que en español):

Of course, it's always difficult to gather comprehensive impressions from demo content presented at a trade fair like IFA. But it's usually enough for a first impression, as was the case with Dolby Vision 2. We were certainly very impressed when the content snippets played on the 110-inch Hisense TV.

The entire picture boasts an enormous dynamic range, which seemingly fully utilizes the vast brightness reserves of modern premium TVs. This works equally well for film material and sports content. You're, to put it bluntly, "closer." Dolby Vision 2 significantly reduces the viewer's distance to the current content, captivating from the very first second while still managing to avoid distorting the image.

Colors don't appear hopelessly exaggerated, the image look is realistic, and films don't look like glossy computer games, but rather retain the typical look that film enthusiasts so appreciate. At the same time, we note an enormous, lifelike color dynamic range, which is responsible for a more comprehensive overall image impression.

The image depth offered is enormous, and the three-dimensionality is even better than before. You get the impression of being able to look deep into the image under all conditions. Even the background image planes are still cleanly detailed, yet without altering the visual balance.

We can't say for sure whether Dolby's motion enhancers were in use during our demo, but all types of motion seemed stable, smooth, and confident.
 
Cuidado con Hisense...lo están petando a la chita callando. No digo más :-D

Respecto a Dolby Vision 2, sigo diciendo que es un megachanchullo made in Dolby (porque a veces llegan a ser muy chanchulleros). Pon al lado un monitor de masterizado de referencia, y así sabremos realmente las diferencias entre ese "procesado Dolby" para mejorar las imágenes en entorno luminoso.

Y gran parte del mérito es por tan tremenda tele, qué cojones.

Esas chorradas de "colores como nunca vistos" y tal a mí no me seducen. Yo no quiero colores chorreantes. Quiero FIDELIDAD al medio original.

Ni siquiera el "motion enhancer" ese me hace tilín, al contrario. Me tiene muy escamado eso. Porque veo los artefactos aparecer.

Parezco muy pesimista pero es que todos los esfuerzos van dirigidos a manipular la imagen de forma muy exagerada para impresionar y seducir, pero yo no busco eso cuando veo una peli, busco que me ofrezcas la imagen más correcta posible. Es inevitable cierto procesado de imagen y lo acepto, pero yo al menos tengo límites.

Veremos cuando pueda tener la oportunidad de verlo en acción en vivo, no por palabras de terceros...si me tengo que retractar, lo haré, porque equivocarse no es fallar, es aprender.

A ver, que Dolby Vision para los creadores es una maravilla, no nos equivoquemos. Poder tener en un solo archivo TRES versiones de la peli para todo tipo de dispositivos es genial. Ahí lo hicieron bien, como pasa con Dolby Atmos.

Y para el consumidor, menos líos y tener que andar tomando decisiones. Y ya para juegos qué decir. Llevo usando Dolby Vision muchos años, y aunque leo de gente que dice que está "mal implementado", a mí que me vengan a mi casa a señalarme exactamente en qué, porque soy el primer crítico que si algo no cuadra me saltan las alarmas.

Sin llevar el palo metido en el culo, no soy tan estúpidamente purista, claro.

Pero aquí Dolby precisamente pienso que cae en las garras de la IA y que tanto rédito se le está sacando últimamente. Y ya lo el estúpido sensor de luz es que es de traca. Pero eh, para los amantes de querer ver Alien a las 3 de la tarde y no querer echar las cortinas o bajar las persianas porque "invente usted la excusa que quiera", igual les vale bien, no se. Hay gente para todo.

Ahí es donde vergonzosamente se pliega Dolby a toda esta caterva de gente que "por mis cojones que yo veo Alien como si fuese Mary Poppins". Y creo que se equivoca, pero qué sabré yo, claro.

Yo solo se que más de un colorista sentiría vergüenza de ver como su obra se ve machacada por alguien que decide ver las cosas "a su gusto" porque "yo soy el que mando, no alguien anclado al pasado que quiere ver las cosas aburridas, con bajo color y a trompicones" (y juro que he leído no menos de 40 personas el último mes con estos mismitos argumentos)

Y así va la cosa.

Es para lo único que puede llegar a servir. Para que una tele megachufla de 4 duros se vea un poquito menos mal.
 
Mi tele chinaca solo puede con Dolby Vision I. Una nueva Esperanza. Cual tengo... Era la U8NQ?
 
No, esa la pillaré para cuando me vaya a vivir alone algún día... ¿no? No se, me compré la TV y la barra hace menos de un año... Y bueno, se puso muy a tiro la Hisense, que se quedaba a 750 pavinis, y vamos a ver... era muy buen precio para la TV que era (china). Y la barra otros 350, la 990D, esta sí, Samsung.
