Parece que finalmente se va a 2011, aunque en el lado positivo se ha confirmado que, al menos en USA, recibirá tratamiento de Ultimate Collectors Edition.
Para que os hagáis una idea, las UCE de Warner han sido algunas como Casablanca, Lo que el Viento se Llevó, El Mago de Oz, Blade Runner...

Juraria que habia un hilo de esta ediccion pero no lo encontre tambien puede ser que lo leyera en el hilo de futuros lanzamientos

Se confirma el lanzamiento para Otoño de este año sin fecha definitiva, sera una edicion limitada numerada, traera una reproduccion del diario de Charlton Heston con fotos personales y bocetos que hizo durante la produccion, nuevo documental en alta definicion titulado Charlton Heston y Ben Hur: un viaje perosnal que ademas incluye video casero filmado por su esposa (no seais mal pensados:diablillo) tambien incluye los comentarios de la version especial dvd y chuches varios, fotos trailers y demas.

La pelicula vendra en dos BD 50, restauracion de 6k tomada del original de 65 mm y segun parece es apabullante en calidad

Siendo Warner casi seguro tendra castellano y al ser libre de zona me parece que sera imperativo pillarla en USA a saber cuando sale aqui y lo que le recortan

Ya lo encontré yo por ti. ;)

Veo que Warner no quiere decepcionarnos con esta edición aunque si el lanzamiento en BD van a ser 2 discos (la foto es de la edición DVD) está claro que la película vendrá en uno solo y también habrá que ver si la versión de 1925 vendrá en HD o si reciclarán la copia SD que venía en la última edición especial en DVD.

Me quedo con esto:

Quizá el más relevante tanto para coleccionistas como no-coleccionistas es esta comparativa visual sobre la nueva restauración a 6K a la que han sometido al negativo original de 65mm:

Según indican en la web, la textura de las imágenes se debe a la impresión del material de prensa ofrecido por Warner, es decir, que es una imagen escaneada, pero suficiente como para intuir lo prometedor del resultado.

Por cierto, todavía seguimos sin fecha de lanzamiento...

¿Una UCE por 12 libras? No me lo creo. Salvo que sea un error de precio...

Por cierto, que esa caratula de la edición sencilla es un mal fotomontaje, sobre todo por el logo del DVD.

La fecha definitiva en USA será el 27 de septiembre y, aunque inicialmente se había indicado que la edición BD sería de 2 discos, finalmente serán 3 discos. Parece que Warner esta vez ha hecho los deberes y va a dividir la película en 2 discos:

Sobre la restauración y los contenidos:
For this release, Ben-Hur has undergone a $1 million restoration -- frame by frame from an 8k scan of the original 65 mm camera negative, making this the highest resolution restoration ever completed by Warner Bros. studio.

We have been working on this extensive restoration for several years, hoping we could be ready with a 2009 release for the actual 50th. The meticulous process took longer than expected, but our primary goal was to deliver the finest quality presentation possible, and we have succeeded in doing just that, said Jeff Baker, WHVs Executive Vice President and General Manager, Theatrical Catalog.

Ben-Hur has been on moratorium for the past year. Now limited and numbered, each set contains more than four hours of extras including an all-new hi-def feature length documentary hosted by son Fraser Heston; a reproduction of Heston's diary during filming; and an exclusive hardbound photo book.

The restoration is almost trumped by some newly-uncovered Heston family home movies, shot in Italy during production, that reveal unique behind-the-scenes activity. Believed to be the only footage of its kind in existence, this marks something truly historic and unprecedented. And we are thrilled to be able to incorporate it into the documentary made by Laurent Bouzereau and Charlton Heston’s son, Fraser. The documentary will be obtainable only with this release.

Baker believes fans also will be enthralled with Heston’s diary, which reflects his thoughts and feelings on many of the days before, during, and immediately after the films physical production.

The diary is a replica of the original, Baker said. We did not transpose Chuck’s words onto a clean white piece of paper. The natural fading of the pages, and any mistakes, are all seen as they are in the original diary. The concept is to preserve the authenticity. It’s a remarkable, collectible keepsake. No other disc release in history has included a personal diary of an actor, let alone an Oscar®-winning legend, sharing this type of personal information.

Ya era hora de que se dieran cuenta de que después de efectuar millonarias restauraciones, no podían caer en una absurda reducción de costes que al final terminaba lastrando la calidad de imagen debido a una excesiva compresión, echando a perder precisamente tan arduo y preciado trabajo.

Respecto a la restauración, yo ya estoy babeando... :babas
