Frank Darabont abandona ‘The Huntsman
Diferencias creativas. El estudio mantiene fecha de estreno y busca a Emily Blunt como villana.

Frank Darabont ha dejado de ser oficialmente desde hoy el director de The Huntsman, la secuela de Blancanieves y La Leyenda del Cazador. Quienes tengan una idea aproximada de cómo funciona la mente del irreductible director de Cadena Perpetua o La Niebla no se sorprenderán lo más mínimo. Sencillamente, Darabont no tiene ni moral ni ganas para proyectos de encargo.

Dicho en los términos oficiales en que se ha pronunciado el estudio: “separación amistosa por diferencias creativas”.

Extraños derroteros los de esta película, que comenzó como una secuela en firme con la participación de Kristen Stewart y ahora es más bien una continuación al margen con Chris Hemsworth, quien daba vida a el cazador titular en la película de Rupert Sanders.

Dado que Universal ha decidido mantener la fecha de estreno del 22 de abril de 2016, antes del inicio de esa masacre que va a ser el próximo verano, el estudio ha anunciado que el nombre del nuevo director se conocerá la semana próxima.

Existe cierto aliciente en la figura de Emily Blunt, quien todavía está en conversaciones para coprotagonizar el film en calidad de villana. Nada concreto.

La cuestión es que de un tiempo a esta parte, Darabont se pira o le echan de todos los proyectos en los que participa, siempre por diferencias creativas. No sé si queda sitio para el Darabont de antaño en el Hollywood actual... :pensativo

Se confirman las negociaciones de Cedric Nicolas-Troyan para ‘The Huntsman’
Universal está a punto de encontrar reemplazo para Darabont en la figura de este supervisor de VFX.

Tal y como avanzaban hace unas horas en Schmoes Know, el supervisor de VFX francés Cedric Nicolas-Troyan será el director de The Huntsman, la nueva entrega basada en Blancanieves y la Leyenda del Cazador, sin Blancanieves ni Leyenda, pero sí con Chris Hemsworth (que se acaba de meter un hostiazo taquillero del año con Blackhat, de Michael Mann, un fracaso económico que ha afectado COMPLETAMENTE CERO a mis ganas de verla).

Nicolas-Troyan ha trabajado en One Hour Photo y Piratas del Caribe, y en principio trabajará con la última versión del borrador de Darabont, inicialmente escrito por Craig Mazin. El profesional galo había sido tanteado en los últimos meses para dirigir el reboot de Los Inmortales y Hansel y Gretel 2.

Justin Kroll, de Variety –que majete él cita a Schmoes en la noticia, verificada según sus propias fuentes– no menciona si la película estará coprotagonizada, como se especulaba hace unos días, por Emily Blunt en el papel de villana del film.

Recordemos que Universal mantiene la fecha de estreno para el 22 de abril de 2016.

Supongo que si ya les funcionó en la primera lo de darle un blockbuster a un debutante...

Esperemos que éste no se líe con la Blunt o la saga pasará a ser despreciada por Klopek Y Ellliott.

Nick Frost, Toby Jones and Eddie Marsan, who played dwarfs in 'Snow White and the Huntsman', will not return for the prequel.

Universal Pictures is currently moving forward with The Huntsman, a sequel to their 2012 action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman that will primarily focus on Chris Hemsworth's title character and Charlize Theron as the evil Ravenna, with Emily Blunt also in talks for an unspecified villain role. We already know that Kristen Stewart is not returning as Snow White, but a new report from Deadline reveals that Nick Frost, Toby Jones and Eddie Marsan, who played three of the seven dwarfs in Snow White and the Huntsman, will not be back for the follow-up.

The sequel will only feature two of the dwarfs, although it isn't entirely clear yet which two they will be. Eddie Marsan was forced to bow out due to schedule complications with Showtime's Ray Donovan, while both Nick Frost and Toby Jones "appear not to have agreed on terms for the second installment." The remaining dwarfs in Snow White and the Huntsman were played by Ian McShane, Johnny Harris, Ray Winstone and Brian Gleeson.

Cedric Nicolas-Troyan is directing from a script most recently written by Frank Darabont, who was initially set to direct himself before dropping out earlier this month. Evan Spiliotopoulos and Craig Mazin worked on previous drafts of the screenplay. The story will center on The Huntsman and Ravenna, and how their paths first crossed before they both met Snow White. It isn't known when production may begin.

Chris Hemsworth, bien protegido

Jessica Chastain, Charlize Theron y Emily Blunt, confirmadas para la "precuela" de 'Blancanieves y la leyenda del cazador'

Jessica Chastain, Charlize Theron y Emily Blunt están confirmadas para The Huntsman, según informa DHD. El debut tras las cámaras del especialista en VFX Cedric Nicolas-Troyan completa así su reparto principal, tras un pequeño bache motivado por el abandono de Frank Darabont, cuyo nombre permanece no obstante en los títulos como guionista acreditado, a estas horas y siempre según el medio.

Al margen de que DHD confirma a las tres actrices, el comunicado de prensa informa de que el film se trata de una precuela que seguirá los pasos del cazador, a quien da vida Chris Hemsworth, antes de conocer a la Blancanieves a la que dio vida Kristen Stewart.

Theron volverá así a dar vida a la malévola reina Ravenna. Se desconoce si Blunt interpretará a otra antagonista de la película, como se especuló en un principio. Chastain saldrá en calidad de interior derecha, para repartir juego y rematar centros cerrados. Yo qué sé.
