TV Ratings Thursday: Fox Wins As 'Idol,' 'CSI,' 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'Vampire Diaries,' 'Nikita,' '$#*!,' 'Wipeout' Hit Lows
Fox had an easy time topping the nights 18-49 rating as American Idol slipped just a little, and most networks had ratings ups and downs across their schedules. American Idol’s season low 7.2 adults 18-49 rating was 4% lower than last Thursday, and just 8% behind last season’s fourth Wednesday’s 7.8 rating, far less than the typical (10-15%) annual declines. At 9pm, Bones‘ 3.3 rating was even with last Thursday’s.
On CBS, The Big Bang Theory’s 3.9 adults 18-49 rating was down 9% from last week, while $#*! My Dad Says tieing a series low 2.7 rating, 4% lower than last week. At 9pm CSI scored a series low 2.8 rating, 7% lower than last week, and The Mentalist’s 2.9 rating was even with last week.
ABC’s Wipeout 2.2 rating was down 12% vs. last week, a season low. Grey’s Anatomy drew a season low 3.9 rating down 9% vs. last Thursday. Private Practice’s 2.7 adults 18-49 rating was up 8% vs. last week.
On NBC, Community’s 1.8 adults 18-49 rating was down 10% vs. last week, while Perfect Couples 1.5 rating rose 7% from last week (retentionista’s take note!). The Office’s 3.6 rating slipped 3% vs. last week, and Park’s and Recreation drew a 2.6 rating was 8% higher than last week. At 10 pm, 30 Rock’s 2.3 adults 18-49 rating was 4% lower than last week. Outsourced was 6% lower than last week to a 1.7 rating.
On the CW, The Vampire Diaries 1.2 adults 18-49 rating was a series low down 20% vs. last week, and its 2.0 women 18-34 rating fell 17% vs. last week. Nikita’s 0.7 adults 18-49 rating was 22% lower than last week to a series low, however its women 18-34 ratings were even with last week’s 1.0.
Fringe dipped to a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating in its fourth Friday episode down 12.5% from last Friday. Our polled readers turned out to have been wildly optimistic. At 8pm, Kitchen Nightmares drew a 1.5 rating, 12% below last Friday.
The CW’s Smallville’s 0.9 adults 18-49 rating was down 10% from last week, and Supernatural’s 0.9 adults 18-49 rating was also down 10% from last week.
Burning off its episodes prior to cancellation, The Defenders drew a new series low 1.1 adults 18-49 rating, down 15% from last week. Back at 9pm, CSI:NY’s 1.5 rating tumbled 20% vs. last week’s 10pm episode, tieing a season (series?) low.
The second week of NBC’s Who Do You Think You Are? thought up a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating, up 8% from last Friday. Following it, a two hour Dateline: NBC drew a 1.4 rating, down 26% from last Friday.
ABC’s Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown special garnered a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating. Following it at 9pm, a two hour 20/20 had a 1.6 rating.
