Imagino que saldrá la primavera que viene ya que está previsto su reestreno en cines el próximo mes de marzo coincidiendo con el primer centenario desde la partida del barco. Para el reestreno contará con una reluciente conversión a 3D que es la que también estará incluida en esta edición.

En el enlace de Blu-ray.com aparece la caratula que se ve ahí y una imagen adicional con algunas cosas que están en esa. Cabe la posibilidad de que sea un montaje con algunos materiales originales todavía no publicados pero tratándose de un lanzamiento como este lo normal es un anuncio por todo lo alto, y aún no se ha producido...

En principio las dos cameronadas aparte de Titanic que faltan por editarse en BD, The Abyss y True Lies, deberían estar en camino, posiblemente en algún momento de 2012.

En algunos países está apareciendo una edición limitada que además incluye la versión IMAX 3D en el Blu-ray 3D, es decir, con una relación de aspecto de 1.78:1.

20th Century Fox is releasing a Collector's Edition of James Cameron's Titanic 3D (1997) limited to a 1000 copies, on September 10 as an Amazon UK Exclusive, simultaneously with the standard 2D and 3D Blu-ray editions of the movie. The Limited Collector's Edition will contain the 3D/2D 4-Disc Blu-ray edition set of the movie which comes with 6 hours of bonus features and will also be available individually, plus the following extras exclusive to the Limited Set:
  • Hardback glossy Art Book
  • Titanic Dossier containing replica menus, passenger list, newspaper, telegram and ship diagram
  • Postcards
  • Collectible Titanic box Packaging --Limited to a 1000 in production
The 3D Blu-ray version will have the IMAX 3D version of movie in the 1.78 Full Frame HDTV aspect ratio used in the IMAX presentations, while the 2D version will present the film in the original theatrical Scope 2.4:1 aspect ratio. The 2D Blu-ray version will also be available separately as a 2-Disc Set the same day.

All three editions are available for pre-oder now.

UPDATE: Amazon has posted the UK Collector's Edition has Sold Out.

A Coffret collector Edition limitée is available in France and apparently one also in Japan.

Yo entiendo que la edición en 3D, la normal, la de 4 discos, también incluirá la versión IMAX, no solo la limitada. Bueno, "también" no. Tal como lo dicen, la versión 3D será exclusivamente la versión IMAX y la 2D la scope. Ignoro si existe versión scope "no IMAX" en 3D. Supongo que sí.

Lo explica mejor nuestro camionero favorito en la entrevista que he enlazado arriba:

MD: What did you do on a technical level to prepare "Titanic" for both the 3D re-release and the Blu-ray editions?

JC: On the re-release, we released Titanic also in IMAX, the digital IMAX format, in 2D and in 3D, and we did that in 1.78:1 aspect ratio - this is kind of geeking out for neophiles now. But the film was originally released in a CinemaScope ratio - 2.35:1 ratio. So in the new release, the DVD and the standard Blu-ray and the 2D Blu-ray is 2.35, and the 3D Blu-ray is in 17:8 or 16:9, which means that it'll fill the HD monitor. And that's not cropped, that's actually added material. And in the process of remastering the film, we had to go back and do a lot of paint work to remove dollies and microphones and things like that, that were in view just outside of the scope area.

This is more of the videophile geek fest, but the film was originally shot with Super 35 format, which meant that there was always more frame available than what we released. So we've gone back to that and we've cleaned it up and so it actually plays beautifully in 3D in the 16:9 format, I think, so it's a slightly different experience.

Por cierto, yo también he pedido la caja francesa, y eso que no me gusta el 3D ni las ediciones de coleccionista :roto2

Te aseguro que la proyección que vi en cines en 3D se veía fabulosa y, aunque no tenía un nivel de grano llamativo, si que tenía algo de textura y la imagen no tenía un aspecto artificial.

Sí, pero el 3D no es que fuera "nada del otro mundo" ... el 3D ha sido una excusa para "pasar por caja" :mosqueo
